It has often been said that money can’t buy happiness, but thanks to many recent scientific studies, it actually can! During these challenging times, it is especially important to give yourself a little pep in your step. That’s why I put together a list of the things that I discovered, and science says, can make you feel better almost instantly.
Flowers
It’s the least expensive item on this list. Costing you $10 on average, flowers are guaranteed to bring a smile to your face. According to one study on happiness, the presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of satisfaction and affects social behavior in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed. I’ve found some of the best flowers at my local Trader Joe’s, but it’s a quick addition to any grocery list considering they’re always located near a check out counter.
Pajamas
Feeling good on the inside sometimes comes from looking good on the outside, even if you’re stuck inside of your house with nowhere to go. Wearing old t-shirts and hand-me-downs to sleep don’t necessarily do a whole lot for your self esteem. Treat yourself to new pajamas. You’ll likely breed better bedtime habits as well.
Kitchen Tools
You’re spending more time in your kitchen than you can ever remember, it’s time to make the most of it. Dull and outdated utensils and tools can slow you down. Make sure you’re working with good, sharp knives to cut down on a lot of your work. Consider using a food processor to help chop vegetables or herbs. I recently upgraded to this Calphalon set and have enjoyed cooking even more. Replace those old tools with a fresh set and experience a whole new level of appreciation for cooking and baking!
High-End Hair Products
I said it earlier and I’ll say it again – feeling good on the inside can sometimes come from looking good on the outside. From Oribe to Aveda, finding the right product line is key to healthier hair and a happier you. Little did I know, there actually is a big difference in drug store and salon quality products. I can’t tell you what brand or type of shampoo and conditioner to use, but I do recommend consulting with you hair stylist to find the right products for your hair type. #Hairgoals are just as important for your self-confidence as your #careergoals, so take the time and invest in yourself.
Bath Towels
People don’t usually think of towels as a luxury item, but there’s nothing like wrapping yourself in a nice, new set of fluffy towels. Since bath towels are used daily, there’s even more of a need for replacing the old ones. So go ahead and splurge a little and feel that happiness surge!
